FBICRC signs MoU with the India Energy Storage Alliance

Mumbai 15 July 2022 – The Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre has signed an MoU with the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA).

IESA is a leading industry alliance of more than 160 member companies for the battery supply chain ecosystem, with a focus on accelerating the adoption of energy storage, e-mobility, green hydrogen and microgrids.

The MoU was signed by CEO Shannon O’Rourke, Debi Prasad Dash, Executive Director, India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) in the presence of the Hon. Roger Cook, Deputy Premier, Western Australia during JTSI’s Trade Delegation to India.

The agreement will see the two organisations collaborate on refined and advanced materials for advanced battery manufacturing in India, and development & integration between Australian and India battery value chains, for a period of three years.

Shannon O’Rourke, CEO, Australian Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre (FBICRC) said, “By 2040, IEA forecast India to be one of the largest battery energy storage market, and Australia is the largest critical mineral producer. This collaboration will help our two nations cone together for global battery manufacturing.”

Hon. Roger Cook, Deputy Premier, Western Australia said- “This MoU is a milestone for the new partnership between Australia and India in critical minerals specific to energy storage and battery minerals.”

Debi Prasad Dash, Executive Director, India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) said “This partnership between India and Western Australia will definitely help in procuring lithium hydroxide and advanced battery materials to support advanced energy storage giga factories.”
