The team behind Powering Australia and the Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre are delighted to have been allocated $20.3M over five years, to enhance industry and research collaboration, including workforce training for battery research, manufacturing, transport and, as part of the Albanese Government’s latest budget.

This latest funding is part of the Government’s broader Future Made in Australia Act that provides targeted support to address strategic and structural challenges in the economy, with commitments totalling $19.7 billion over 10 years.

The work we have done at the FBICRC over the past five years and our early work to establish the Powering Australia Industry Growth Centre, confirms Australia can be competitive across a broad range of renewables with the right technology, at the right scale, with the right investment mechanisms to support those efforts.

Shannon O’Rourke welcomed the additional funding and commended the Government for backing Australian know how, with a clear vision underpinned by targeted policy measures and substantial investment.
