Battery Materials for a Circular Economy

Join the FBICRC for a webinar to share the results of the scene setting project conducted by the Institute
for Sustainable Futures, University of Technology Sydney and The University of Melbourne: “Certification
and Life Cycle Analysis of Australian Battery Materials – Drivers and Options”.
The study assesses the drivers and schemes for sustainability certification of battery minerals and the role
of life cycle assessment in supporting social and environmental performance claims for the battery value
chain.


Following an overview of the study’s findings, Project Lead Damien Giurco, Professor of Resource Futures
at the Institute for Sustainable Futures, University of Technology Sydney, will chair an international panel
session with Claudia Becker, Purchasing and Supplier Network Sustainability, BMW (Germany), Jessica
Robinson, General Manager, Critical Minerals Facilitation Office (Canberra) and report co-author Elsa
Dominish, Research Principal, UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures (Sydney)..
